When tagging a laptop, please add also the zip code and the province/state if possible, otherwise the geolocation algorithm won't be able to compute the GPS coordinates. These are not mandatory fields, but it's a best practice to add them to help the algorithm put the laptop on the map. There is no need to include the street and home number if you want to keep that private, just the zip code and...

With the help of Lisa from Hub Berlin, we are starting to prepare an article about Labdoo to be published in the Wikipedia for English. Lisa already published the German Wikipedia version, so she will help in this process too. I put together a draft of the article. Please if you'd like to make any edits, comments, feel free to do so. https://docs.google.com/document/d/...

Thanks to a collaboration with HP in Barcelona, we have created carton posters that get printed (free of charge) by HP and we are distributing them away to all the Hubs near the area of BCN. So far we printed 12, but we will print more in 2017. In this link you will find the poster templates: https://www.labdoo.org/content/labdoo-dropping-point-hub-poster The poster helps give visibility...

Hi Ralf and Frank, We have a new project in India and I saw you have already delivered many laptops to schools in India. Our traveler is asking if you know the number limitation of laptops each traveler can carry? Thanks, Wendy

Hello, During the first phases of project Labdoo we've focused primarily on the problem of efficiently collecting, sanitizing and moving unused laptops. As this part of the project becomes step by step more robust, we would like to start focusing on the problem of providing better support to the schools receiving the laptops and tablets. So far we have developed some features that do focus on...

As requested by some Labdoo hubs, due to a talk to the developers of MATE desktop at UbuCon in Germany and after internal testings and discussions we can offer you an improved user concept for Labdoo computers. Beside the LXDE desktop (the Lubuntu user interface), which you know already, we added the MATE desktop and made it the default desktop. a href...

This weekend i will be doing some maintenance system updates to the Labdoo.org platform/software. It should not disturb you (hopefully) as the updates can be done with minimal disruption time, but if you happen to see the system off for a short while, it will be due to these updates. I am going to choose a time zone that has minimal traffic too. Thanks.

As times are changing, we should as well update our minimum requirements of donated laptops. Actually we ask for at least Pentium IV (4) CPUs. Linux is well known for supporting older computers, but release by release (L)Ubuntu needs more RAM and CPU power. So we recommend to drop Pentium 4 CPUs (end of 2001) and use min. Pentium M (mobile) CPUs (2003 ff.). Min. RAM of 512 MB, better 756 MB...
