Project description:

Watoto are tomorrow is a refugee initiative that operate under Lazima nipate Academy, we empower refugee children and teenagers aged 7 to 18 to take their education and future into their own hands and be able to stay engaged in the learning process while improving their English language and other social skills so they can more easily rejoin the formal education system.
We are supporting children in developing a wide range of skills, including social skills that can be applied in their everyday life, at home, and in the classroom.
We do this through an affordable, engaging, fun, and accessible to all children by the usage of materials such as comic books, tablets, and follow up visits to be able to track their progress and ensure that the parents and community members are supporting their efforts. Comic books support safe self-reflection for children at home while also encouraging a culture of reading and awareness of social issues and prevention of diseases. This has become particularly important especially during Covid-19. Tablets connected to the internet containing English animations such as video lessons and spelling games that are translated into different local languages spoken in the camp, boosting their listening ability and quick learning as they build digital skills. Laptops will highly support the safe self –reflection for children at the center and improve their learning and basic skill area in which they will learn some important social skills boosting their listening ability and quick learning as they build digital skills. And also develop their motor skills as well as enhancing their creativity and imagination. It also increases retention and adequate teacher learning as an integral element of the successful program and among others.
There will be the assistance of trainers and some rules to help the laptops to be in good maintenance and safe.
