UNESCO acknowledges Labdoo as an organization that helps promote the "principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning". Once again, this comes only possible thanks to the work of all of you from around the globe, who day by day contribute with your mini-missions to help bring edoocation to schools in need. United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD)
In December 2002, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution 57/254 to put in place a United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD), spanning from 2005 to 2014, and designated UNESCO to lead the Decade.
The United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development seeks to integrate the principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning, in order to address the social, economic, cultural and environmental problems we face in the 21st century.
During this decade, education for sustainable development will contribute to preparing citizens better prepared to face the challenges of the present and the future, and decision-makers who will act responsibly to create a viable world. ESD supports five fundamental types of learning to provide quality education and foster sustainable human development – learning to know, learning to be, learning to live together, learning to do and learning to transform oneself and society.

Decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (DEDS)
En diciembre de 2002, la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas aprobó la resolución 57/254, en la que se proclama el período comprendido entre 2005 y 2014 Decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible y se designa a la UNESCO organismo rector de la promoción del Decenio.
El Decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible tiene por objeto integrar los principios, valores y prácticas del desarrollo sostenible en todos los aspectos de la educación y el aprendizaje, con miras a abordar los problemas sociales, económicos, culturales y medioambientales del siglo XXI.
En el contexto del Decenio, la educación para el desarrollo sostenible coadyuvará a aportar a los ciudadanos medios para que afronten las dificultades presentes y venideras, y también contribuirá a ayudar a los dirigentes políticos a que adopten decisiones encaminadas a edificar un mundo viable. La EDS apoya a cinco modalidades esenciales de aprendizaje con miras a lograr una educación de calidad y fomentar el desarrollo humano sostenible: aprender a conocer, aprender a ser, aprender a convivir, aprender a hacer y a aprender a transformarse uno mismo y a cambiar la sociedad.
