Labdoo Meeting 11/04/2010
+ EWB General meeting is next Tuesday night (6-7:30pm) at Doheny Beach B. This is the general meeting to go to as they plan to break out into mixed groups (project team w/ business w/ Labdoo, etc.) in order to interact and learn about what each other are doing.
+ Mobile Tabling
We have to reschedule, as the original plan of next Thursday is Veteran's day and a holiday. I started a doodle, found here.
+ Business cards - This is a low effort, low priority on our agenda. We have the opportunity to make zero cost (+shipping) business cards, so we have decided to pursue it.
We decided to pool in a dollar each for shipping ($5.95 total/ $1 dollar each from us at the Labdoo meeting).
We also discussed slogans, the top two were:
"Developing education labs for developing communities"
"Bringing education labs to developing communities"
+ Recycling (also post meeting)
Kevin met with ECS recycling, a large and seemingly responsible end of the production line recycle company.
While it would be ideal to work with the most credible recycling company, Kevin and Matt feel that Labdoo has
a responsibility to ensure that the campus not only is aware of the recycling situation, but works with the best
possible recycle company. The next we believe would be:
1. Contact EH&S on campus and discuss the current recycle contract holder and meet them
2. Evaluate the recycle company and propose improvements for the next contract
A. In tandem, Labdoo at UCI can start working with the most ideal recycle company (which will be decided together once we have notes
on both ECS recycling and All Green Recycling)
A good way to increase cohesiveness, improve Labdoo's presence and also make the progress faster is to enlist the help of other sustainability groups. They'd be able to provide feedback and also voice any concerns that Labdoo is overlooking. This could perhaps be done in tandem to the first step.
+ Bookstore
Prepare proposal, which is the manager's preference. (Jason will send Kevin example)
+ FAQ
1st brain storm is ready. Kevin will consolidate and organize the questions and post to labdoo-hub-uci@labdoo.org for review.
+ Kenny is taking care of organizing the EWB/Labdoo storage room from now on.
+ Video of how to tag a laptop (Farhad will email once ready)
+ Fliers that go along with sticker locations [orange duck] (Farhad)
+ Labdoo bookmark idea (Fadi mentioned the idea of Labdoo bookmarks - to be discussed at a later time)
Kevin
