12/30/2011 - Laptops delivered in Argentina and Mexico / New Hub in Taiwan / Project Magic Box in Barcelona / Activism in California
Right on time for Christmas, laptops were delivered in two school projects, one in La Plata, Argentina, and another one in Tijuana, Mexico, with dootrips coming from Barcelona and California, respectively. In the meantime, Taiwan set up a new hub based in Taipei, where people from the neighborhood will now be able to drop laptops. Taiwan already had a hub in Hsinchu, about an hour and a half south west of Taipei, so this is the second hub located in the island. The Taiwan hub has been doing an incredible work collecting, tagging, sanitizing and dootripping laptops loaded with educational applications to disadvantaged communities.
While all this was happening, the Labdoo hub in Barcelona built a set of magic boxes, sanitizing 18 laptops that will head to Ecuador some time in January. And in California, students are getting ready to present Labdoo at CES 2012 and this way help outreach the high tech community about the importance of solving eWaste while bridging the digital divide.
Happy Holiday Season to all.
