09/30/2011 - Dootrips to Guatemala from Taiwan, California and Barcelona

New dootrips were carried out this time to Guatemala, bringing a total of 14 laptops.  Laptops were delivered in two batches.  The first batch consisted of 10 laptops, each of them with a story of its own.  These laptops had been first located and sanitized by Engineers Without Borders, Taiwan.  Travellers from the high-tech company SpringSoft dootripped them from Hsinchu, Taiwan, to San Jose, Northern California.  Another volunteer happened to make the round trip from Southern California to visit Stanford University, in Northern California.  So he dootripped the laptops from San Jose down to Orange County and dropped them at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).  The Labdoo students at UCI sanitized all the laptops, and installed Ubuntu plus the education packages from Edubuntu.  These laptops were then dootripped to Guatemala by students from the Engineers Without Borders group at the University of California, Los Angeles.

While this was happening, in Barcelona, 4 unused laptops were located, sanitized and installed with Ubuntu/Edubuntu.  A dootripper in Barcelona happened to go to work to New York and then on vacation to Guatemala, so he dootripped the laptops to Guatemala, carrying the laptops in his luggage.

At Labdoo, every laptop has a story of its own, what will be the story of yours? take your own mini-mission, tag your laptop and use the Labdoo tools to bring the hope of education to a child.
