09/01/2011 - Dootrips carried out to Kenya, Tanzania and Cambodia Using A Humanitarian Chain
It's been a very productive month and Labdoo's grassroots operations, carrying laptops from hand to hand, has delivered a few more mini-missions. Every laptop has its own story, from the moment it is localized and tagged, through the process of sanitizing it, installing the education software, and eventually bringing it to a child using dootrips.
Here are some laptop stories...
... A laptop was localized in Madrid, Spain, and tagged. A volunteer offered his time to install the education software Edubuntu in it and package it. Two other travelers from Madrid were heading to Cambodia for vacation this Summer, so using a dootrip, they brought the laptop to the SRET Secondary and Primary School in Siem Riep, Cambodia.
... More unused laptops were localized in Southern California by the students at the University of California, Irvine. The students themselves sanitized the laptops and gave them to the School's Engineer Without Borders Chapter. This group dootripped the laptops to the Endana Secondary School, in Endana, Kenya.
... While the above was happening, demand for more laptops kicked in at the Marian High School in Bagamoyo, Tanzania. This time the Labdoo network carried out its mini missions from Taiwan. In Hsinchu, Northern Taiwan, volunteers localized unused laptops, sanitized them and installed Edubuntu, and dootripped them to Bagamoyo.
Every laptop has its own story, what will be the story of yours? make your own laptop story and bring a laptop to a child using Labdoo's tools!
