07/26/2011 - First Labdoo QA Global Party

Hello everyone!

Labdoo is organizing its first Labdoo QA Global Party. What is a Global QA Party?

The word QA stands for Quality Assurance, and for us it means "sanitizing a laptop" and getting it ready for a child. A QGP (QA Global Party) is an online event where people from anywhere can connect.  In it, each participant works on a unused laptop, sanitizing it and installing Ubuntu and its education package Edubuntu.  At the end of the party, we end up having laptops that we no longer use and that are ready to be shipped to children using Labdoo dootrips, and helping mitigate eWaste at the same time by reusing technology.

The QGP meeting place is an online chat room where all participants connect.  Participants can ask questions on how to fix the laptop (whether its a software or hardware question), and other participants help providing answers to those question.  So the party is all about sharing know-how and distributing the work as much as possible.

If you have an older laptop that you would like to sanitize (for your own future usage or for giving it to a child), join our first QGP event!
