07/10/2011 - Wiki-kids Project Kicked Off
Hello everyone,
We just wanted to let you know that we have just kicked off our Wiki-kids project. The idea about wiki-kids is as follows. Laptops are the instruments to provide free access to education, but by themselves they are passive devices. To make them useful, one needs to build on top of them a layer of knowledge, connectivity, sharing. That's the objective of wiki-kids.
At Labdoo we are all together bringing laptops to children in schools from different parts of the globe. Once laptops are deployed, Labdoo offers these schools the possibility to participate in the wiki-kids project. Through it, students write wikipedia type of articles that get published, allowing children to be authors and do peer-review with students from other regions. Our first pilot project was carried out by children in Guatemala, and their first 10 articles just got published to wiki-kids. You can visit them here:

The project is still in beta phase, but we would like to welcome any of you to participate. The program accepts schools and children from anywhere (both the developed and the developing country), and from any language; so if you know of any school interested (from kindergarden to 12th grade), let us know at contact@labdoo.org
Happy-wiki.
The Labdoo team
