The Labdoo hub at the University of California Irvine is actively accepting laptop donations that will be deployed in the north of Japan.  The treX team in Southern California is traveling this Thursday to Japan mobilizing to provide aid to victims of the magnitude 9.0 earthquake that struck the northeastern coast of Japan.

The main function of the deployed laptops will be communication.  The laptops will be used to keep people on the ground connected to the Internet using WIFI hotspots since much of the alternative communication infrastructure has collapsed.

The Labdoo team at UCI is currently installing Ubuntu and getting laptops ready to be dootriped to Japan.  If you have a laptop and can donate it, please contact the UCI team at labdoo-hub-uci@labdoo.org.

If you are not in Southern California, you can also donate your laptop to one of our current Labdoo hubs in Taipei, Barcelona and Madrid, contacting Labdoo at contact@labdoo.org.
