The Western Massachusetts Chapter of Engineers Without Borders has delivered eight laptops to its school project in Matete, Kenya. Laptops were delivered using sustainable and environmentally friendly resources. First, all laptops were tagged with a Labdoo identifier; then they were cleaned up and sanitized installing Linux/Ubuntu and open source education packages from Edubuntu. Finally, laptops were transported by piggybacking on EWB volunteers traveling to the area (dootrips). The current stock of laptops for the Matete project can be seen here. Eight laptops are already deployed and being used in Matete, while eleven more are currently in Massachusetts pending to be sent to Matete.
